Code Of Criminal Procedure (Amendment)

AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE ACT, NO. 15 OF 1979

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:

Short title.

1.This Act may be cited as the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Act, No. 12 of 1988.

Amendment of section 2 of Act No.15 of 1979.

2.Section 2 of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act, No. 15 of 1979, is hereby amended by the substitution for the definition of " peace officer ", of the following new definition:

'Peace officer.

"Peace officer" includes a police officer, and a Divisional Assistant Government Agent and a Grama Seva Niladhari appointed by a Government Agent in writing to perform police duties;.
