AN ACT TO AMEND THE JUDICATURE ACT, 2. OF 1978

BE it therefore, enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:-
|

Short title.
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Judicature (Amendment) Act, No. 27 of 1998
|
|
Amendment of the Second Schedule to Act No 2 of 1978.
|
2. The Second Schedule to the Judicature Act, No, 2 of 1978 is hereby amended by the repeat of item 1 of that Schedule and the substitution therefor of the following item:-
|
"(1)
|
(a) offence punishable under sections 296,297 and 300 of the Penal Code,
|
|
(b) offence punishable under section 364 of the Penal Code (except in case where the offence is committed in respect of a woman under sixteen years of age)".

|
Sinhala text to Prevail in case of inconsistancy.
|
3. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of tins Act the Sinhala text shall prevail.
