AN ACT TO AMEND THE PENAL CODE

BE it hereby enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :

Short title.
|
1.This Act may be oiled as the Penal Code (Amendment) Act, No. 12 of 2002.
|
|
|
Repeal of section 118 of Chapter 19.
|
2.The Penal Code (hereinafter referred to as the "principal enactment") is hereby amended by the repeal of section 118.
|
|
Repeal of Chapter XIX of the principal enactment
|
3.Chapter XIX of the principal enactment is hereby repealed.
|
|
|
Amendment of Code of Criminal Procedure Act no 15 of 1979
|
4.The Code of Criminal Procedure Act, No. 15 of 1979 is amended by the repeal of paragraph (f) of subsection (1) of Section 135.

|
Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency.
|
5.In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and the Tamil texts of this Act. the Sinhala text shall prevail,
