ANACT TO AMEND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES (SPECIAL PROVISIONS)
ACT, NO. 55 OF 2007
BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic
Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :—
1. This Act may be cited as the Local Authorities (Special Short title.
Provisions) (Amendment) Act, No. 30 of 2009.
2. Section 3 of the Local Authorities (Special Amendment of
Provisions) Act, No. 55 of 2007 is hereby amended as section 3 of the

(2) in the renumbered subsection (1), by the repeal of
the proviso thereof; and
(3) by the addition immediately after the renumbered
subsection (1) of that section of the following new
subsection:—
“(2) The notice of nomination in terms of the
principal enactment shall be published on such
date as the Minister may determine by Order
published in the Gazette. Such date shall be a
date not later than ten months from the date on
which this amendment comes into operation.”.
3. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala Sinhala text to
and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail. prevail in case
of inconsistency.
