British Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Institute of Colombo (Repeal)


A LAW TO CAUSE THE TRANSFER OF ALL THE PROPERTIES VESTED IN OR BELONGING TO THE BRITISH SOLDIERS AND SAILORS INSTITUTE OF COLOMBO TO THE SRI LANKA EX-SERVICEMEN’S INSTITUTE AND TO REPEAL THE BRITISH SOLDIERS’AND SAILORS INSTITUTE OF COLOMBO ORDINANCE.

BE it enacted by the National State Assembly of the Republic of Sri Lanka as follows: –
Short title and date of operation.
1. This Law may be cited as the British Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Institute of Colombo (Repeal) Law, No. 3 of 1973, and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may fix by Notification published in the Gazette, hereinafter referred to as the ” appointed date “.
All properties and rights held by the trustees of the British Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Institute of Colombo to vest in the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Institute

(1) On the appointed date all the movable and immovable properties and all the rights and obligations of the trustees of the British Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Institute of Colombo shall be deemed to be transferred to the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Institute.
(2) The trusts and powers vested in the trustees of the British Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Institute of Colombo under the British Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Institute of Colombo Ordinance shall be deemed to have expired on the appointed date.
Repeal of the-British Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Institute of Colombo Ordinance.
3. The British Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Institute of Colombo Ordinance is repealed, with effect from the appointed date.
