Buddhist Temporalities (Amendment) AN ACT TO AMEND THE BUDDHIST TEMPORALITIES ORDINANCE. BE It enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows : Short title. 1.This Act may be cited as the Buddhist Temporalities (Amendment) Act, No.22 of 1980. Amendment of section 14 of Chapter 318. 2.Section 14 of the Buddhist Temporalities Ordinance (hereinafter referred to as the ” principal enactment”) is hereby amended as follows : (1) by the substitution for the words “No person shall be appointed, or, if so appointed, shall act as trustee “, of the following: ” No person shall be eligible to be elected or to be appointed, or if elected or appointed shall act, as trustee” ; and (2) by the insertion, immediately after paragraph (h) of the following new paragraph: ” (bb) if he is disqualified, by or under the provisions of any written law, from practising or engaging in any profession, vocation or trade ;”. Retrospective effect of amendments. 3.The amendments made to the principal enactment by section 2 of this Act shall be deemed for all purposes to have come into force on the date on which the principal enactment came into force. Saving. 4.Nothing in this Act shall invalidate or be deemed to have invalidated any act done by any person as a trustee prior to the commencement of this Act.
