Butchers (Amendment)
AN ACT TO AMEND THE BUTCHERS ORDINANCE.

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:-

Short title.

1 This Act may be cited as the Butchers (Amendment) Act, No. 60 of 1981.

Amendment of section 20 of Chapter 272.

2. Section 20 of the Butchers Ordinance (hereinafter referred to as the “principal enactment”), is hereby amended, by the substitution, for the words “not exceeding fifty rupees, and in default of payment to imprisonment, either rigorous or simple, for a term not exceeding three calendar months “, of the following;”

“not exceeding two hundred rupees or to imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding six months, or to both such fine and imprisonment.”.

Amendment of section 24 of the principal enactment.

3. Section 24 of the principal enactment is hereby amended in subsection (1) of that section, by the substitution, for the words ” not exceeding one hundred rupees, or to imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding six months”, of the following:”

“not exceeding three hundred rupees or to imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding two years, or to both such fine and imprisonment.”.
