Butchers (Amendment) Law


A LAW TO AMEND THE BUTCHERS ORDINANCE.

BE it enacted by the National State Assembly of the Republic of Sri Lanka as follows: –
Short title.
1. This Law may be cited as the Butchers (Amend merit) Law, No. 31 ‘of 1976,
Insertion of new section 13A in, Chapter 272
2, The following new section is hereby inserted immediately after section 13 of the Butchers Ordinance and shall have effect as section 13A of that Ordinance : –

” No flesh of animals to be sold, exposed, & c, except in certain buildings.
13A.

(1) No person shall sell or expose for sale or cause to be sold or exposed for sale the flesh of any animal at any place other than in a building constructed in conformity with a plan approved by the Secretary to the Ministry in charge of Local Government.
(2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence, and shall on conviction by a Magistrate be liable to a fine not exceeding one hundred rupees, and in default of payment to imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding six months.”.
