Ceylon Baptist Council (Incorporation)( Amendment)

WHEREAS the members of the Ceylon Baptist Council incorporated under Ceylon Baptist Council Ordinance No. 54 of 1944 have passed a resolution to amend the name of the Council:

And whereas the said Council, for the purpose of giving effect to such resolution has applied to change the name of such Council and it will be expedient to grant such application :

Now therefore, be it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows : ”

1. This Act may be cited as the Ceylon Baptist Council (Incorporation) (Amendment) Act, No. 14 of 1991.

2. In every context in which the Ceylon Baptist Council is mentioned (whether by that name or by the abbreviation of “‘the Council”) in the Ceylon Baptist Council Ordinance or in any notice or other document issued under that Ordinance, there shall, unless the context otherwise re quires, be substituted for the expressions ” the Ceylon Baptist Council” or “the Council”, the expressions “the Sri Lanka Baptist Sangamaya” or ” the Sangamaya “, as the case may be.

3. Every contract, agreement or other instrument or document whatsoever made, issued or executed prior to the date of commencement of this Act, by or in favour of the Ceylon Baptist Council” shall be deemed on and after the date oil commencement of this Act to be and to have been made, issued or executed by or in favour of the ” Sri Lanka Baptist Sangamaya”.

4. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala text and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail
