Children (Amendment) Law A LAW TO AMEND THE EMPLOYMENT OF WOMEN YOUNG PERSONS AND CHILDREN ACT, NO. 47 OF 1956 BE it enacted by the National State Assembly of the Republic of Sri Lanka as follows: – Short title. 1. This Law may be cited as the Employment of Women, Young Persons and Children ( Amendment) Law, 29 of l973. Amendment of section 24 of Act, No.47 of 1956. 2. Section 34 of the Employment of Women, Young Persons and Children Act, No. 47 of 1956, is hereby amended by the substitution, for the definition of “authorized officer”, of the following new definiton: – ” authorized officer ” means – (a) the Commissioner of Labour; (b) any Deputy or Assistant Commissioner of Labour; or (c) any officer appointed as an authorized officer for the purposes of this Act- (i) in the case of any other officer in the Department of Labour by the Com-missions- of Labour, and (ii) in the ease of any officer in any other Government Department, by the Minister with the concurrence of the Minister in charge of that Department.
