Coconut Development (Amendment) Law


A LAW TO AMEND THE COCONUT DEVELOPMENT ACT, No. 46 OF 1971.

BE it enacted by the National State Assembly of the Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:
Short title.
1. This Law may be cited as the Coconut Development (Amendment) Law, No. 24 of 1975.
Insertion of new section 63 in the Coconut Development Act, No. 46 of 1971.
2. The following new section is hereby inserted immediately after section 62, and shall have effect as section 63, of the Coconut Development Act:

“Reference to coconut to be construed as including reference to palmyrah, and certain other palms.
63. Any reference in sections 20, 22, 23, 30, 44, 45, 46, 48, 49, 50, 51 and 62 to coconut; shall unless the context otherwise requires, be construed as including a reference to palmyrah and to such other palms as may be specified by the Minister by Order published in the Gazette, and the expressions coconut product coconut plantation , coconut palm and coconut industry occurring in these sections shall be construed accordingly, “.
