AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE ACT, NO. 15 OF 1979

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :-
|

Short title
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Act, No. 20 of 1995.
|
|
Amendment of section 303 or Act No. 15 of 1979.
|
2. Section 303 of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act, No. 15 of 1979 (hereinafter referred to as the ” principal enactment”) is hereby amended in subsection (1) of that section by the substitution for the words ” a term not exceeding two years for an offence may order “, of the words” a term not exceeding two years, for an offence may except in any case where the sentence of imprisonment imposed is a mandatory sentence of imprisonment order”

Amendment of the First Schedule to the principal enactments.
|
3. The First Schedule to the principal enactment is hereby amended as follows:-
|
|
Sinhala text to prevail in case of Inconsistency.
|
4. In case of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, The Sinhala text shall prevail.
