Criminal Justice Commissions (Repeal) Law


A LAW TO REPEAL THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMMISSIONS ACT, NO. 14 OF 1972, AND TO PROVIDE FOR MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH OR INCIDENTAL THERETO.

BE it enacted by the National State Assembly of the Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :-
Short title.
1. This Law may be cited as the Criminal Justice Commissions (Repeal) Law, No. 12 of 1977.
Repeal of Act No. 14 of 1972.
2. The Criminal Justice Commissions Act, No. 14 of 1972, is hereby repealed and accordingly, every warrant establishing a Criminal Justice Commission shall cease to be valid and of any force in law and any proceeding, matter or thing pending before any such Commission shall terminate upon the Commencement of this Law, subject to the Jurisdiction of such Commission make any order arising out of in consequence of the termination of such proceeding matter or thing.
Right to institute prosecution or action in court not affected.
3. The termination of such proceeding, matter or thing pending before any Criminal Justice Commission shall not affect the right to institute any prosecution or action in respect of any such proceeding, matter or thing in any court of law in accordance with the law for the time being to force.
