Debits Tax (Repeal) AN ACT TO REPEAL THE BANK DEBITS TAX ACT, NO. 27 OF 1970, AND TO PROVIDE FOR MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH OR INCIDENTAL THERETO. BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :- Short title and date of operation. 1. This Act may be cited as the Bank Debits Tax (Repeal) Act, No. 19 of 1979, and shall be deemed, for all purposes, to have come into operation on January 1, 1979. Repeal of Act No. 27 of 1970. 2. The Bank Debits Tax Act, No. 27 of 1970, as amended by Law, No. 32 of 1975, is hereby repealed. Saving. 3. Notwithstanding the repeal of the Bank Debits Tax Act, No. 27 of 1970, any tax payable under that Act, in respect of any period prior to January 1, 1979, may be collected and recovered as if there had been no such repeal.
