Fugitive Persons Amendment


AN ACT TO AMEND THE FUGITIVE PERSONS ACT, NO. 29 OF 1969.

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Representatives of Ceylon in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: –
Short title.
1. This Act may be cited as the Fugitive Persons (Amendment) Act, No. 12 of 1971.
Amendment of section 20 of Act No. 29 of 1969
2. Section 20 of the Fugitive Persons Act, No. 29 of 1969, hereinafter referred to as the ” principal Act “, is hereby amended in sub-section (2) of that section by the substitution, for the expression ” Fugitive Offenders Act, 1870,”, of the expression ” Fugitive Offenders Act, 1881, “.
Amendment of the Third Schedule to the principal Act.
3. The Third Schedule to the principal Act is hereby amended in item 1 of that Schedule by the substitution, for the expression ” 1932, of the United Kingdom”, of the expression ” 1932, and the Fugitive Offenders Act, 1881, of the United Kingdom. “.
