Indo-ceylon Agreement (Amendment)
AN ACT TO AMEND THE INDO-CEYLON AGREEMENT (IMPLEMENTATION) ACT, No. 14 of 1967.

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:-

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the Indo-Ceylon Agreement (Implementation) (Amendment) Act, No. 14 of 1967.

Amendment of section 8 of the Indo-Ceylon Agreement (implementation) Act, No. 14 of 1967.

2. Section 8 of the Indo-ceylon Agreement (Implementation) Act is hereby amended by the repeal of subsection (3) of that section and the substitution therefor, of the following subsection:

“(3) In the disposal under subsection (1) of applications made under this Act for the grant of the status of a citizen of Sri Lanka, the Minister shall ensure that as far as possible the number of persons who are granted such status and the number of persons who have been or are recognized as citizens of India after October 30, 1964, at all times bears the ratio of 4: 7. In the computation of such ratio, no account shall be taken

(a) of persons so granted such status or so recognized who were born after October 30, 1964; and

(b) of persons to whom the Indo-Ceylon Agreement does not apply. “.
