AN ACT TO AMEND THE IRRIGATION ORDINANCE
|

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:
|

Short title.
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Irrigation (Amendment) Act, No. 32 of 1990.
|
|
Amendment section 78A of Chapter 453.
|
2. Section 78A of the Irrigation Ordinance (hereinafter referred to as the ” principal enactment”) inserted by Act No. 48 of 1968 and amended by Act No. 23 of 1983, is hereby further amended in subsection (3) of that section by the substitution for the words ” Magistrate’s Courts “, of the words “Small Claims Court “

Amendment of section 118 of the principal enactment.
|
3. Section 118 of the principal enactment is hereby amended in subsection (1) of that section by the substitution for the definition of ” Government Agent”, of the following definition:
|
|
“Government Agent” includes an Additional Government Agent, an Assistant Government Agent, Secretary to the Minister of the Board of Ministers of a Province in charge of the subject of Irrigation and Divisional Secretary of a Provincial Council;’.

|
Sinhala a text to prevail in case of inconsistency.
|
4. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
