Minimum Wages(Indian labour) (Amendment)
AN ACT TO AMEND THE MINIMUM WAGES (INDIAN LABOUR) ORDINANCE

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :”

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the Minimum Wages (Indian Labour) (Amendment) Act, No. 25 of 2000.

Amendment of section 4 of Chapter 135.

2. Section 4 of the Minimum Wages (Indian Labour) Ordinance (hereinafter referred to as “the principal enactment”) is hereby amended by the substitution, for the words ”below the age of ten years”, of the words “below the age of fourteen years”.

Amendment of section 11 of the principal enactment.

3. Section 11 of the principal enactment is hereby amended as follows :-

(1) in subsection (1) of that section, by the substitution, in paragraph (b) of that subsection, for the words “‘below the age of ten years”, of the words “below the age of fourteen years” ; and

(2) in subsection (2) of that section, by the substitution, for the words “below the age of ten years”, of the words “‘below the age of fourteen years”.

Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency.

4. In the event of any inconsistent between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
