Motor Traffic (Amendment)


AN ACT TO AMEND THE MOTOR TRAFFIC ACT.

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Representatives of Ceylon in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: –
1. This Act may be cited as the Motor Traffic (Amendment) Act, No. 20 of 1968.
Insertion of new section 156A in Chapter 203.
2. The Motor Traffic Act is hereby amended by the insertion, immediately after section 156, of the following new section which shall have effect as section 156A of that Act: –

” Riding in omnibuses.
156A. No conductor of an omnibus on a highway shall permit any passenger to ride, and no passenger shall ride, in any omnibus except in a seat provided for the use of passengers or in the gangway provided between two rows of seats in a single-decked omnibus, or in the gangway provided between two rows of seats in the lower deck of a double-decked omnibus. “.
