AN ACT TO AMEND THE NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP ACT, No. 49 OF 1971

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:
|

Short title.
|
1. This Act may be cited as the National Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act, No.4 of 1987.
|
|
Amendment of section 50 of Act No. 49 of 1971.
|
2, Section 50 of the National Apprenticeship Act, No. 49 of 1971 (hereinafter referred to as the” principal enactment “) , is hereby amended by the repeal of subsection (6) of that section.
|
|
Insertion of new section 50A in the principal enactment.
|
3. The following new section is hereby inserted immediately after section 50, and shall have effect as section 50A, of the principal enactment:

Provision of Employees Provident Fund Act, No. 15 of 1958 and Employees Trust Fund Act, no. 46 of 1980, not to apply an apprentice.
|
50A. From and after the date on which this section comes into operation, the provisions of the Employees’ Provident Fund Act, No. 15 of 1958, and the Employees Trust Fund Act, No. 46 of 1980, shall not apply to an apprentice as defined in this Act” .
