National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (Amendment)
AN ACT TO AMEND THE NATIONAL DANGEROUS DRUGS CONTROL BOARD ACT, NO. 11 OF 1984

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows: “

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (Amendment) Act, No. 21 of 1990.

Amendment of section 7 of Act No 11 of 1984.

2. Section 7 of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board Act, No. 11 of 1984 (hereinafter referred to as the ” principal enactment “) is hereby amended as follows :”

(a) in paragraph (f) of that section, by the substitution, for the words ” abuse of dangerous drugs; and “, of the words ” abuse of dangerous drugs;” ;

(b) in paragraph (g) of that section, by the substitution, for the words ” in drug control activities. “, of the words ” in drug control activities ; and “; and

(c) by the addition at the end of that section of the following new paragraph :”

” (h) acquire, hold, take or give on lease or hire, mortgage, pledge and sell or otherwise dispose of, any movable or immovable property. “.

Addition of new section 13 in the principal enactment

3. The following new section is hereby added immediately after section 12 and shall have effect as section 13 of the principal enactment:”

” Special grant or lease of Crown property to the Board.

13. Where any immovable property of the Crown is required for the purposes of the Board, such purpose shall be deemed to be a purpose for which a special grant or lease of such property may be made under section 6 of the Crown Lands Ordinance and accordingly, the provisions of that Ordinance shall apply to a special grant or lease of such property to the Board.”.

Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency.

4. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala text and Tamil text of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
