AN ACT TO AMEND THE NATIONAL HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ACT, NO. 17 OF 1979.

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :
|
|

short title.
|
1.This Act may be cited as the National Housing Development Authority (Amendment) Act, No. 20 of 1988.
|
|
Insertion of new section 73A in Act No. 17 of 1979.
|
2.The following new section is hereby inserted
immediately after section 73 of the National Housing Development Authority Act, No.17 of 1979 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal enactment”) and shall have effect as section 73A of the principal enactment:
|
” Transfer to the Authority of all assets &c., of the Department of National Housing.
|
73A. All such
|
(a)assets (including immovable property) vested in the Department of National Housing on the day immediately preceding the appointed date; and
|
|
(b)contracts and agreements entered into, by or with, the Department of National Housing and subsisting on the clay immediately preceding the appointed date,
|
|
as are specified in an Order made by the Minister and published in the Gazette, shall be transferred to and vest in, the Authority with effect from the appointed date.”.

Retrospective effect of an Order made under section 73A.
|
3. Every Order made under section 73A of the principal enactment as inserted by section 2 of this Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the date on which the principal enactment come into operation and shall have the effect of transferring to End vesting in the National Housing Development Authority established by the principal enactment, with effect from that date all the assets, contracts and agreements specified in such Order.
