NEGOMBO MUNICIPAL COUNCIL (DIFFERENTIAL RATES)
AN ACT TO ENABLE THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF NEGOMBO TO MAKE AND ASSESS DIFFERENTIAL RATES FOR THE MUNICIPALITY OF NEGOMBO, AND TO VALIDATE CERTAIN ACTS OF THAT COUNCIL.

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the Negombo Municipal Council (Differential Rates) Act.

Power of Council to make and assess differential rates.

2. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any written law, the Municipal Council of Negombo may, in respect of any particular area or areas within the Municipality of Negombo, make and assess under section 230 of the Municipal Councils Ordinance any rate or rates differing from the rate or rates made and assessed in respect of any other area or areas within the Municipality.
Validation of rates assessed and levied by the Council before the date of commencement of this Act.

3. All rates made, assessed or levied by the Municipal Council of Negombo during the period commencing on the 1st day of January, 1950, and ending on the date of commencement of this Act in purported pursuance of the powers conferred by the Municipal Councils Ordinance, shall be deemed to be and to have been as validly made, assessed or levied as though the provisions of section 2 had been in force during that period.
