As ACT TO AMEND THE NURSING HOMES (REGULATION) ACT

BE it, enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:

Short title.
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Nursing Homes (Regulation) (Amendment) Act, No. 63 of 1988,
|
|
Amendment of section 11 of Chapter 220.
|
2. Section 11 of the Nursing Homes (Regulation) Act (hereinafter referred to as the “principal enactment”) is hereby amended by the repeal of the definition of ” Director ” in that section, and substitution therefor of the following definition:

|
“Director” means the Director-General of Teaching Hospitals;’.

|
Retrospective effect of amendment.
|

(1) The amendment made to the principal enactment by section 2 of this Act shall be deemed, for all purposes, to have come into operation on June 1, 1985.
|
|
(2) Any act done by the Director-General of Teaching Hospitals from and after June 1, 1985 and before the commencement of this Act shall be deemed not have been, or to be, invalid by reason only of the fact that such Director-General was not empowered by the principal enactment to do such act.
