AN ACT TO AMEND THE OFFENCES AGAINST PUBLIC PROPERTY ACT, NO. 12 OF 1982

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :-

Short title.
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Offences Against Public Property (Amendment) Act, No. 28 of 1999.
|
|
Amendment of section 8 of Act No. 12 of 1982.
|
2. Section 8 of the Offences Against Public Property Act, No. 12 of 1982 is hereby amended in the proviso to subsection (1) of that section, by the substitution, for the words “exceeds five thousand rupees” of the words “exceeds twenty- five thousand rupees “.

Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency.
|
3. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
