Printing Presses (Amendment)
AN ACT TO AMEND THE PRINTING PRESSES ORDINANCE.

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:-

Short title.

1. This may be cited as the Printing Presses (Amendment) Act, No. 26 of 1983.

Amendment of section 3 of Chapter 178.

2. Section 3 of the Printing Presses Ordinance is hereby amended by the repeal of subsection(1) of that section, and the substitution therefor, of the following subsection:-

“(1) Whoever shall keep in his possession any such press as aforesaid without making such a declaration as is required by section 2, shall be guilty of an offence, and shall be liable on conviction thereof to a fine not exceeding one thousand rupees, or to imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding six months, or to both such punishments. For the purposes of this section the occupier of any premises in which any such press is found shall be deemed to have kept the same in his possession, unless he proves the contrary”.
