Public Examinations (Amendment) Law


A LAW TO AMEND THE PUBLIC EXAMINATIONS ACT. No. 25 OF 1968.

BE It enacted by the National State Assembly of the Republic of Sri Lanka as follows: –
Short title.
1. This Law may be cited as the Public Examinations (Amendment) Law, No. 15 of 1976.
Amendment, of section .2 of Act No. 25 of 1968.
2. Section 2 of the Public Examinations Act, No. 25 of 1968, hereinafter referred to as the ” principal enactment “, is hereby amended by the substitution, for subsection (2) of that section, of the following new subsection: –

” (2) The Commissioner may delegate any of his powers or duties under this Act or any regulation made thereunder, to the Deputy Commissioner or to any Assistant Commissioner or to any Superintendent of Examinations of the Department of examinations or to any Regional “Director of Education or to any Chief Education. Officer.”.
Amendment of section 23 of the principal enactment.
3. Section 23 of the principal enactment is hereby amended as follows : –

(a) by the insertion, immediately before the definition of ” examiner ” , of the following new definition: –
‘ ” Chief Education Officer ” has the same meaning as in the Education (Change of Designation) Law, No. 35 of 1973;’; and
(b) by the insertion, immediately after the definition of ” public examination “, of the following new definition: –
‘ ” Regional Director of Education ‘ has the same meaning as in the Education (Change of Designation) Law, No. 35 of 1973;’.
