Short title.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Sex Disqualification Removal (Legal Profession) Ordinance.*(*See also Article 12 of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, 1978.)

Women entitled to become attorneys-at-law, &c.

2. A woman shall not be disqualified by reason only of her sex –

(a) from being admitted and enrolled, or from practicing, as an attorney-at-law; or

(b) from being authorized to practice as a notary by a warrant issued under the provisions of the Notaries Ordinance, or from practicing or functioning as a notary under the provisions of that Ordinance or of any other written law; or,

(c) from being appointed, or from functioning, as a Commissioner for Oaths under the provisions of the Oaths Ordinance.
