Stamp (Amendment)


AN ACT TO AMEND THE STAMP ORDINANCE.

BE It enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Representatives of Ceylon In this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:–
short title.
1. This Act may be cited as the Stamp (Amendment) Act, No. 8 of 1968.
Amendment of section 3 of Chapter 247.
2. Section 3 of the Stamp Ordinance (hereinafter referred to as the ” principal enactment “) is hereby amended in sub-section (1) of that section, in paragraph (c) of that sub-section, by the substitution in sub-paragraph (iii) of that paragraph, for the words ” a duty of one rupee for every one hundred rupees of such debenture stock;”, of the words ” the same duty as on a bond for an amount equivalent to the total face value of the debenture stock created or issued by the company:’
Amendment of schedule A to the principal enactment.
3. Schedule A to the principal enactment is hereby amended in Part 1 of that Schedule as follows:

(1) In item 25 of that Part in the ” Explanation ” of that item, by the substitution, for the words ” Includes any interest “, of the words ” includes debenture stock and any interest “; and
(2) In Item 51 of that Part, by the substitution, for the words ” scrip, stock, or debenture “, of the words “‘ scrip or “,
