Telecommunications (Amendment)


AN ACT TO AMEND THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS ORDINANCE.

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows : –
Short title.
1. This Act may be cited as the Telecommunications (Amendment) Act, No. 67 of 1979.
Amendment of section 42A of Chapter 192.
2. Section 42A of the Telecommunications Ordinance (hereinafter referred to as the “principal enactment”) inserted therein by Law No. 17 of 1974, is hereby amended in subsection (1) of that section, by the substitution for the words ” between twenty and three hundred”, of the words ” between four and three hundred “.
Amendment of section 42c of the principal enactment
3. Section 42c of the principal enactment, inserted therein by Law No. 17 of 1974, is hereby amended as follows: –

(1) by the renumbering of that section as subsection (1) of that section; and
(2) by the addition, immediately after subsection (1) of that section, of the following new subsection :-

“(2) The court may on the conviction of any person for any offence under section 42A or 42B, in addition to any other penalty that it shall impose under subsection (1), make order declaring that any vehicle used in or in connection with the commission of the offence, shall be forfeited to the Republic”.
